Bursaries & Scholarships
The scholarships and bursary offered below will be awarded to successful applicants. Please be aware this is advance level instruction and not beginner classes. Deadline for submissions is February 15th. Applicants are encouraged to enroll in classes at the time of registration to ensure a space is held for them.
Hornby Island Blues Society Scholarship
FULL SCHOLARSHIP
Advanced Skill
Applicants must have advanced skills for any of our workshop classes: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, harmonica, song writing and vocals.
Full student fees will be awarded to the successful applicant to include 3 days of instruction, nightly concerts and meals.
Lewis Silberberg Scholarship
FULL SCHOLARSHIP
Under 30
The Lewis Silverberg scholarship has been generously provided by long time student – Lewis Silverberg.
The applicant must be registered for an acoustic guitar major and be under 30 years old.
Full student fees will be awarded to the successful applicant to include 3 days of instruction, nightly concerts and meals.
Ben Banky Bursary
FULL SCHOLARSHIP + TRAVEL
Low Income / Financial Need
The Ben Banky bursary, established by Tall Grass Inc. in memory of Ben Banky, is awarded annually through the Hornby Blues Society to support students pursuing music education.
The successful applicant for the Ben Banky bursary will be awarded a cash value that covers student fees plus extra for travel or accommodation expenses (amount varies each year – typically about $1000).
To qualify for this bursary, you must express financial need.
Preference will given to younger applicants.
BC residents will be considered first, then the rest of Canada.
Any and all classes are available to this student.
